A group of master’s students in Management Engineering at the Politecnico di Milano worked with one of our clients on a project focused on developing a weekly demand forecasting model.
The goal was to create a tool capable of supporting the company’s production decisions by ensuring dynamic stock coverage over a flexible time horizon, with weekly-level detail—including demand calculation for newly launched products.
The project involved several phases: data cleaning and preparation, development of a dynamic forecasting model, item-by-item inventory optimization, and the creation of an interactive AI-powered dashboard to facilitate operational decision-making.
The outcome is a data-driven decision-making process that allows for more effective production planning, faster responsiveness to market fluctuations, improved inventory management, and higher customer satisfaction.
